We believe that a healthy smile is the foundation of a child's confidence and well-being. Yet millions of children go without basic preventive dental care, leading to pain, missed school days, and problems that follow them into adulthood.
The Healthy Smiles Children's Foundation dental teams under the leadership of Dr. Robert Lorber, deliver professional preventive care and oral health education directly in schools — reaching kids where they are and removing barriers that may stand in the way.
Our Story
The Need
- Each year, over 51 million school hours are lost due to poor oral health
- Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease
- Only 20% of the nation's practicing dental professionals provide care to people on Medicaid
- 3 out of every 5 children are affected by tooth decay
- 16 million children lack access to basic dental care
What We Do
Our Programs
Smile Smart Curriculum
Interactive lessons that pair with preventive care visits, teaching students the how and why behind brushing, flossing, and healthy nutrition.
Preventive Dental Care Visits
Dental teams come directly to school campuses to provide screenings, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants — no transportation needed.
Healthy Habits Kits
Take-home oral health kits that extend the impact of every school visit beyond the classroom.
